The African community in the Monaghan area celebrated
Africa Day on Saturday 22nd May in St. Macartan's Hall,
Monaghan, 2-6 pm. There was a display of African culture
- songs and music, dance, fashion - and appetising African
food for everybody present. In the month leading up
to the event a poster competition was held among the
children of some primary schools in the area. "Irish
Aid" gave a substantial grant towards the cost
of the event, for which the organisers - Monaghan Immigrant
Support Group - are most grateful.
